After my comfortable flight with Cathay Pacific, I was welcomed at the airport by a smiling driver who took me to a road trip to Hong Kong Island. I was very sleepy, but more than curious to see everything. And I’ve discovered that Hong Kong has the most amazing clouds in the world, in different shades of gray, blue, white and black. It’s a show in itself.

Finally, the skyscrapers appeared in my side view and I was in awe. Oh, hello, Hong Kong!

After a 30 minutes ride, I arrived at the Lanson Place, my home for that night. It was 5 AM.

Because I’ve announced them in advance, my apartment was ready, and I dived into a very deep and comfortable sleep.

After 3 relaxing hours, I was ready to discover the hotel and the streets of Hong Kong.

Lanson Place is a boutique hotel, with small but very beautiful apartments (comfy beds, couches, huge TVs, kitchenette, bathroom), with fast elevators, and a colorful and elegant club – where you can read, have breakfast or relax with a glass of wine.

The hotel is smoking free (as all Lanson properties are!) and the kids are very welcomed. I’ve found out that they have permanent residents and are more than happy to help you and show you around.

I received a city map, a ticket for the old, vintage tram, and a 2-day pass tram ride – included in my accommodation. This was a blessed feature, as I was ready to discover the Island of Hong Kong.

The vintage tram has the first station very close to the hotel door (Causeway Bay Terminus), and it takes one hour to the Western Market.

It’s a wonderful experience and I recommend it for the travelers interested in the history of the island, and with just a little time at their disposal.

I had a perfect dinner at Papparich (delicious Malay food) and after that, I’ve wondered the streets, looking at people and shops. I was really happy to be there!

The nights at the Lanson Place were full of lights and colors, I had all the clouds of Hong Kong for myself – to dream big and visualize all my dreams come true.

The next day, after a delicious breakfast with salmon and fresh eggs, I took a ride with an Uber to the mainland and had more adventures and experiences.

I was impressed by the kindness of the people from Lanson Place, and if I have to take with me just one memory, it will be their smiles and good hearts.

I definitely had the most welcoming first day in Hong Kong and I am very happy that I chose the island and Lanson Place.
